Twedt has over seven years of development experience and has held her current position since 2013. Prior to that, she coached rowing at the University of Tennessee, returning to her alma mater where she earned a degree in speech communication and was the coxswain on the rowing team. Twedt also holds a law degree from the Hamline Law School. Twedt and her husband, Walter Hailes, were married in the fall of 2015 and have a dog, Hernando, who is an extremely clever rescue bichon.
