Oscar J. Craig, the University of Montana's first president, declared, "The University – it shall prosper."
The Heritage Society was established to honor and recognize those visionary individuals, like President Craig, who desire to preserve the legacy of the past and, through their estate plans, to make a contribution to the future of UM. President Craig's legacy continues in the generous spirit of planned giving at the University of Montana.
Joining the Heritage Society
To become a member, simply inform us that you have named the UM Foundation as a beneficiary in your will, trust, retirement plan or life insurance policy. Or you can establish a charitable gift annuity with the UM Foundation. Your bequest is fully revocable.
Informing us of your plans is a good idea for several reasons. Most importantly, it lets you ensure we understand your wishes, so your gift will be used exactly as you intended. Then, it allows the UM Foundation to make note of your gift as we plan for the future. Finally, it allows us to honor you, show our appreciation, and motivate other to do the same.
When you become a member, you will receive an invitation to the annual Heritage Society event and your name will be listed in the donor honor roll in the UM Foundation annual report.
