Tools for Success
Starting linebacker. Defensive team co-captain. On the brink of making UM’s career tackle list. Brock Coyle ranks 28th in the nation, averaging 9.73 tackles per game. The Bozeman native and senior Griz football player has been busy racking up the awards. He also excels as a marketing major in the School of Business Administration.
“There are a lot of exciting things in my life right now,” says Coyle. “From my academic experience to my coaches and my football family, I have just really enjoyed my time here, and I can’t imagine it any other way.”
Coyle has been on a full athletic scholarship for his entire career at Montana, part of which has been funded by individual awards that include a scholarship from Stockman Bank; the Ian and Nancy Davidson Athletic Scholarship; and the Grizzly Scholarship Association License Plate Athletic Scholarship.
“It is such a great honor to receive these awards,” says Coyle. “I had choices about places to attend college, but once I visited the University of Montana, I just knew it would be the best place for me to grow as a student and as an athlete. I have been given all the tools to be successful not only in the classroom but in life as well.”
This football season, look for Coyle out on the field, number 56.
“Brock is the kind of guy who can run your defense for you, and he’s going to know what adjustments need to be made and what the other players are supposed to be doing on defense,” says Griz Head Coach Mick Delaney.
“It should be a year worth paying attention to,” says Coyle with a smile. “We have a great team. We are all really close knit like a family, and it’s going to serve us well in the upcoming season. I know I am looking forward to see how it all turns out.”
The Griz face Appalachian State for the season opener on August 31. Kick-off is at 7 p.m. The game will be televised by Max Media.
