Dear Friends,

Cindy Williams

Last fall, we announced a goal to inspire $400 million to elevate every student, college, school and program at the University of Montana.

Campaign Montana matches strategic University priorities with dedicated donors like you who share the vision for a transformational UM learning experience for every student.

Your support will help UM ensure that every student succeeds. Inside this issue of Raising Montana you’ll read about what is possible with support from donors like you.

That includes:

  • Students like Kirsten Tucker, who was able to learn more about delivering important medical care because of a life-changing study abroad experience in Uganda.
  • The University’s innovation in the study of neuroscience to inspire students from both the humanities and the sciences, thanks to a prestigious new grant.
  • Alumni like Gary Gagermeier, who, after a successful teaching career, continues to give back to the Flathead Biological Station because of his passion for their important research and outreach to the Flathead community.
  • Another more recent alumna, Ashleen Williams, is a Ph.D. student and teaching fellow at the University of Mississippi who ensures that prospective UM students in her region know about the great education she received in Missoula.

We encourage you to learn about UM’s student success initiative – outlined in the latest issue of the Montanan magazine at – which sets a course for providing an accessible, high-quality UM education for any student who has a passion to fulfill their potential. There are many opportunities to support this leadership priority of Campaign Montana; we invite you to learn more at
