Hands-On Health Care
Anatomy Lab Will Benefit Students and Patients
As UM expands its programs to meet Montana’s rising demand for health care professionals, the need for more space on campus to study the human body is growing too.

A new anatomy lab will provide human biology and health care students — as well as students in UM’s new Occupational Therapy and Physician Associate programs set to start in fall 2025 and 2026 respectively — with hands-on experience using cadavers and medical manikins.
Financial support totaling approximately $2 million is needed to fund the facility, which will be located in an existing 2,200-square-foot space at Missoula College.
“Education in cadaver and skills labs serves as the foundation for students taking anatomy and physiology courses,” said Dr. Matthew Fete, dean of the College of Health. "This innovative facility will enhance the learning experience for all future health care professionals trained at UM and who go on to serve patient populations throughout Montana and beyond.”
