GrizRx Assurance Program Helps UM Student Train for a Career in Pharmacy
In fall 2021, the Skaggs School of Pharmacy launched the GrizRx Assurance Program to recruit motivated high school students to earn their undergraduate degree at UM and transition seamlessly to pursue their doctor of pharmacy on campus.
GrizRx students receive personalized support, including: a $1,000 renewable scholarship; assistance applying for additional financial aid; reserved seats in a first-year pharmacy class; dedicated faculty advisors; and job shadowing and volunteer opportunities.
Tracy Pauley, from Dillon, is a member of the inaugural GrizRx cohort of 10 students and plans to graduate in 2027. She is grateful to be part of a close-knit community within the program, and for access to tailored advising as she works toward a career in compounding or nuclear pharmacy.
“I am thankful to donors for helping us achieve our goals,” she said.
“I am especially looking forward to lab courses and opportunities to conduct research with faculty mentors.”
Over 70% of UM doctor of pharmacy students like Pauley practice in Montana after graduating. From providing prescriptions and vaccinations to routine health screenings, they play a key role in keeping our region and its residents healthy.
Philanthropy ensures Montana’s only pharmacy school can recruit and retain students from across the country, keep the GrizRx program affordable and train the next generation of pharmacists. Your generosity allows UM to continue serving the health-care needs of people across the state.
