The University of Montana continues to enjoy tremendous momentum as, on July 1, UM welcomed its 20th president, Dr. Jeremiah Shinn. Dr. Shinn’s arrival promises to bring new successes while building on recent achievements including increased enrollment and retention as well as continued campus and brand revitalization. The future of UM looks bright!

Life Stories
Ana Beard believes stories are a gift. As a graduate student in the Developmental Adversity, Resilience and Transformation (DART) Lab at the University of Montana’s School of Public and Community Health, Beard studies the way trauma and autobiographical memory interact.
After earning a bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience at UM, Beard moved into public health and, in 2026, received critical support from the DART Lab Master of Public Health Fellowship.
