After graduating from Polson High School in 1992, Fleur began her academic journey at the University of Oregon, studying journalism and creative writing. She later returned to the University of Montana, where she earned a bachelor's degree in English with an emphasis in secondary education. In 2001, Fleur relocated to Los Angeles to launch her career in marketing and communications, focusing primarily on the healthcare sector. A decade later, she pursued her passion for writing by earning a master's degree in creative writing from Antioch University in LA.
In 2016, Fleur moved to Houston, where she held roles at ExxonMobil and Waste Management before ultimately returning to her home state of Montana in 2023. Her connection to the University of Montana runs deep — her father, affectionately known as Dr. Pete on campus, earned his master's degree in Theater in 2015 and went on to receive his doctorate in philosophy at the age of 84. His profound love for UM and the community that supported him left a lasting impression on Fleur, inspiring her to give back in her new role at the UM Foundation.
Fleur is the proud mother of Jacob, who resides in Dallas and recently began training at the Dallas Fire and Rescue Academy. She also shares her home with her boyfriend Jeff, a captain for Southwest Airlines, and two spirited Miniature Schnauzers, Oscar and Zoey. In her free time, Fleur enjoys making the most of Montana’s natural beauty — spending summers on Flathead Lake and embracing outdoor adventures like biking, hiking, golfing, skiing, snowmobiling and four-wheeling. When indoors, she’s often found at her computer, working on her next novel.
