Your Gift Supports UM Autism Inclusion and Programming
Griz Nation is celebrating the life of UM basketball legend Anthony “AJ” Johnson. Honor Anthony today with a gift to University of Montana Autism inclusion and programming for students and community members with Autism and related disorders.
Anthony’s unforgettable career with Griz Basketball included earning first-team all-Big Sky Conference recognition both seasons he played for UM (2008-09 and 2009-10). He passed away in November 2023 at the age of 37.
Anthony and his wife, former Lady Griz basketball player Shaunte Nance-Johnson, shared the dream of all of their children having the opportunity to become Grizzlies, including their middle son, Apollo-Kahn, a brilliant autistic six-year-old.
In support of this dream, the Johnsons have been champions of UM's Autism inclusion and programming led by Associate Clinical Professor Jennifer Schoffer Closson. Your gift makes summer and other specialized programming accessible to more Montanans on the Autism spectrum. Give now.
“Anthony’s legacy will live through this work at UM.”
-Shaunte Nance-Johnson
In 2010, Anthony led the Grizzlies to the Big Sky Conference tournament championship over Weber State. His performance earned him an ESPY nomination for a championship performance along with finalists and sports giants Drew Brees, Michael Phelps and Shaun White.
